The Countryway Acupuncture & Massage Center is an oriental medicine clinic that specializes in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM is an ancient medical model based on the premise that illness occurs when there is an imbalance in the energetic system of the body. When the meridians, (energy channels) are open and flowing in harmony, there is wellness; disharmony interrupts the free flow of qi (energy) which leads to illness or discomfort. The TCM diagnostic procedure is a detailed process that includes a comprehensive medical review, a thorough evaluation of psychosomatic (mind – body) signs and symptoms, energetic signs and symptoms, and an assessment of the tongue and pulse. TCM treatment modalities include acupuncture, Tui Na (massage), auricular therapy, moxa, cupping, heat and herbal medicine. Electrical stimulation is sometimes used as an adjunctive therapy. The acupuncture physician may also make dietary and lifestyle recommendations based on the diagnostic syndrome. TCM is a holistic approach to health care and total well being. TCM focuses on restoring balance and harmony to the body. Basic TCM principles suggest that a balanced body is a healthy body. Our goal is to help restore the body to a balanced and harmonious state and then to maintain that status.
